I added the start page where you can build your own Boulder Buddy!
The eyes follow your cursor, and you can drag and drop both the eyes and mouth onto the rock to customize your character.

I built a site where you can explore how high you would jump at different locations in space! When you click the screen, the astronaut jumps into the air.

Check the HUD in the top-left corner to see the local gravity and your real-time jump height in meters.

Hope you like it!

loekman

I added a new UI panel where you can track the gravity of each location and see a live counter that shows how high you’re jumping in meters.
All the gravity values and jump heights are scientifically accurate, except for the ISS. I had to tweak it slightly because in real life, gravity there is near zero, meaning the astronaut would never come back down!
I also wrote the ReadMe for Github.
In the image below, you can see the values in action:

The sound is really cool, it’s hilarious

loekman

I added several new locations with unique gravity settings: Mars, Saturn, the ISS, and the Sun.
The sun and ISS are a little bit wierd because the gravity on the sun is very high and on ISS the gravity is very low.
To make the UI feel better, I replaced the placeholder emojis with custom icons and improved the title’s readability by making it larger with a crisp outline. I also added a favicon for that finished touch.

The site is now live at: https://loek.oerlemans.tv/jumping_on_planets/

loekman

The jumping animation has been updated.
I made the gravity more realistic (the gravity is in comparison)
A “wheeee” sound effect has been added. This sound effect changes its duration and pitch based on the gravity.
The time the astronaut spends in the prepare-for-jump position is now adaptive. This preparation time increases with higher gravity.
A slight shaking animation has been added. This animation occurs when the astronaut is in the prepare-for-jump frame. You can see all this in the screen recording I uploaded.

loekman

I’ve expanded the project by adding more planets to explore! I implemented a navigation dock that lets you choose which planet you want to visit.
Depending on the planet you select, both the background and the gravity settings change dynamically. The emojis in the dock are currently just placeholders.
My next steps are to make the gravity values more scientifically accurate for each planet and to add even more planets to the system!

Awesome!

loekman

I added an Earth GIF as the background for my site. At first I tried using animations from others, but none of them felt quite right for what I had in mind. So, I decided to create one myself!
I used Gemini to generate the individual frames for my astronaut and wrote custom code to bring the animation to life with physics and gravity. In the video, you can see the site in action: the astronaut jumps and switches frames based on his movement.
My next steps are to add many more planets to explore and to further polish the overall experience.

I built a site with a big red button that you absolutely should not click… ;)
The button has a mind of its own: it moves, shrinks, disappears, and more.
⚠️ Warning: If it turns into a nuke and you click it, prepare for a tab explosion!
I think it turned out pretty funny.
I might add in the future even more dialogue and weird behaviors.
Check it out!

loekman

I did a lot of things:
First things first: the site is officially live! You can now experience the frustration yourself at: loek.oerlemans.tv/big-red-button.
I expanded the button’s personality. It’s no longer just a static object; it’s a character that gets increasingly frustrated. I added over 20 new dialogue phases, ranging from mild warnings to “calling for help” and eventually complete system failure.
It will:

  • disappear, but turning visible after a while.
  • try to dodge you, by moving away from the cursor
  • get really small, by shrinking to 1*1 px
  • call for help, by opening new tabs.
  • give you a jumpscare
  • turn into a nuke button

You are lucky that I have 48 gigs of ram (bought before the great shortage of 25’) or else you might have cooked my pc. the project is very interesting i’ll say!

loekman

I’ve added the “Big Red Button.” To make the interaction feel more satisfying, I added a custom animation for the press state.

I also built a progression system: the header text updates dynamically as you click. After 10 clicks, the button turns a deeper shade of red to show its “frustration,” and once you hit 15 clicks, the button disappears entirely.

I built a site where you can adjust a slider to choose the exact amount of cookies you want to bake.
My main objective was to make the experience super satisfying and fun to use. I think I reached that goal, because I honestly can’t stop playing with the slider myself!
Hope you have as much fun using it as I had building it! 🍪

loekman

I just pushed the final touches to the Cookie Calculator! Here’s what’s new:

  • Instructions: I added the full baking method, and it’s dynamic! It tells you exactly what percentage of your egg mixture to use based on the slider.

  • Bi-directional Audio: The slider now has a different sound when you move the slide down. It still pops when you add cookies, but I added a new ‘crunchy’ sound for when you move the slider down.

  • Fav icon Added a cookie favicon to make the tab look better.

  • ReadMe: Wrote a ReadMe on GitHub.

The site feels incredibly tactile now. Hope you all enjoy baking some cookies! (or just playing with the site) 🍪

i love itt its so cutee

loekman

Added some juice to the Cookie Calculator! 🍪
I added a physics-driven container where cookies actually spawn, fall, and stack.

The coolest part? When you lower the count, the cookies don’t just ‘poof’ out of existence anymore, they crumble into tiny particles that linger for 3 seconds before fading away.
Nailing the custom physics shapes was a bit of a headache, but it makes the whole experience feel so much more tactile and satisfying.

In this screen recording you can also hear and see the things I changed/made for the last devlog

0
loekman

I’ve focused on making the slider feel satisfying by adding layers of sensory feedback:

  • Dynamic Sound: Every slider movement triggers a “pop” sound. And what’s cool, the pitch increases as you add more cookies.

  • Physical Reactions: The ingredient cards now “bump” every time the value changes, giving the UI a tactile, energetic feel.

  • Haptic Feedback: I’ve implemented the Vibration API. Every step of the slider sends a tiny vibration pulse to your device.

Note on Haptics: Since I’m using an iPhone, I can’t feel the vibrations in the browser myself (Apple is quite strict with web haptics!). If you’re on Android, please let me know how it feels! Test it here: loek.oerlemans.tv/cookie_calculator/

I just noticed the wrong video was uploaded and i can’t change it :( , sorry for that.

loekman

The goal this time was making the site look as good as the cookies taste. Here’s what I updated:

  • Layout: Centered everything to make the site feel clean.
  • Custom Slider: Replaced the boring standard slider with a custom-styled one that fits the vibe.
  • Doodle Vibes: Switched to a hand-drawn font for that cozy, homemade feel.
  • Ingredient Cards: Transformed the list into a grid of cards. I added a slight tilt to them for a playful look and a hover effect where the borders light up when you point at them.

I created a little site that can transform any image to ascii art, I think it works pretty well.
For the future I want to add the possibility to upload a video and transform that into ascii art.
I’m happy I finished this quickly, I actually expected to spend more time on it.

loekman

I added an ASCII-art converter to the site.
It converts a color image to a black-and-white image to ASCII by sampling each block of pixels, computing the average brightness, and mapping that value to a character from an ASCII gradient.
I also added a slider to control character density (i.e., the sampling resolution), a README on GitHub, and deployed the site at loek.oerlemans.tv/ascii_art.

First Devlog! 🍪
I built the core logic of my cookie calculator:

  • Interactive Slider: Added a slider that lets you choose exactly how many cookies you want to bake.
  • Live Ingredients List: I used JavaScript to make the ingredients update instantly as you move the slider.
  • Smart Logic: I even added a special rule for eggs (because you can’t easily use 0.3 of an egg!).
    _

I just noticed you can add an image in the text of your devlog so here is a big cookie!

Now you can upload an image and it turns it to and black to white image, I want the image to be black and white so later I can easily convert it into an ascii image

I searched a gradient of acsii art to begin with.
I thought it would be good start to line up the charchters with a gradient from black to white to see what I am working with. For that reason I made a really simple site to show that as you can see in the image bellow:

I just shipped my first ever game made with Godot! Snowman The Game, It’s a bit of a “reverse” challenge: you play as a cute snowman trying to get the lowest score possible by moving fast and touching the fewest tiles.
Learning everything in Godot the last couple of weeks, was really challenging, so I’m super proud I finished a full game and published it on itch.io.

I hope you have fun playing it, and let me know if you like it.
I’d really appreciate if you give it a good vote! ⛄

loekman

I finished the game and uploaded it to itch.io. During the upload, I encountered a weird bug where the button for the second level didn’t work. However, I’ve fixed it now, so you can play the second level for yourself!
In the video you can see the game.

0
loekman

I tried to make it so that when you walk on a tile that doesn’t have collision till the top, snow wouldn’t be placed there. I almost got it working, but it was glitchy and created a lot of other bugs, so I deleted it :( Instead, I adjusted the tiles so they now have collision all the way to the top. It looks a bit strange, but since the snowman places snow on top of them, it isn’t too noticeable.

I also made it so the background color changes when you are above or below Y 0. This is because the pixel art background doesn’t reach the highest part of the level, which would otherwise look weird. In the video I uploaded, you can see this effect (I hid the pixel art background so you can see it clearly).

loekman

I worked on designing the second level, in the screen shot you can see the state of the second level as of now:

Attachment

loekman

I noticed that using only tiles as an indication of how well you did wasn’t enough, so I added a timer. This timer acts as a multiplier for the number of tiles you touch; every second, the multiplier increases by 0.1. You can see the timer in action in the screen recording I uploaded.
Let me know if you think this is a good addition to the game!
I’ve also been working on Level 2 again

0
loekman

I worked on the second level, in the picture you can see the begin of the level.
I improved the ladder functionality, the position of the ladder en the position where you can climb the ladder didn’t fully align.
While testing I noticed that you can’t go down using the ‘S’ key, so I fixed that.

I worked on level 2.
I added a ladder that you can place via the tilemap. The snowman now has climbing animations and movement for the ladder.
You can see the ladder in the video I uploaded.

0
loekman

I added a button to go to the next level in the win screen.
I added sound effects for when you walk you can hear it in the video( I don’t know why but it sounds bad in the screen recording)
I also worked on the assets for level 2.

0

I started working on the second level, I imported the food assets and give them physics and to auto generate the tiles in the correct order.
This asset is also from Kenny games

I just shipped a new update for the new year!

The countdown is now ready for 2027. I hope you all enjoyed using it to count down to 2026!

loekman

Happy 2026, everyone!

I’ve just updated the site for the new year. When you open it now, you’ll see a ‘It is 2026!’ screen, hit the ‘Countdown 2027’ button to start the countdown to 2027!

I uploaded the game to itch.io!!!
You can play the game via https://loekman.itch.io/snowman

I added a lot of things in this devlog:

  • I created the whole first level, I made it possible to take multiple paths to the end.
  • I updated the walking animation (it still isn’t perfect so please let me know how I can improve it!)
  • I changed the hitbox of the snowman into a capsule instead of a rectangle to match the shape of the snowman.
  • I changed the camera zoom for a better view of the game
  • Instead of the text “reset” you have an icon for the reset button.

I also fixed some bugs:

  • Now if you hit the ground with your hands or head there doesn’t spawn snow in the ground.
  • Now you can’t walk really weird in mushrooms.

It isn’t finished because I want to add more levels to the game, but you can play it!
If you find any bugs or have any suggestions for the game please let me know!

Attachment
0
loekman

I added a lot of smaller things.

  • I added a duck animation, you can see it in the video below.
  • I added a restart button to the win screen so you can retry the level to get a lower score.
  • I added a coyote jump. For the people that don’t know what it is: A coyote jump makes it that you can jump for a short while after you aren’t standing on the platform, because of this you don’t have the feeling that you pressed the up button but the character didn’t jump.
  • I made it that you can do a small jump by short pressing the up button.
  • Now playing full screen is fixed, now you can play on all devices full screen.

For the next devlog I wan’t to create the first level and beta publish it so you can play it!

0
loekman

I drew al the animations for the snow man and putted them in the game, the animations are idle, walking, jumping and falling.
I also made all the fonts in the game pixel art using the silver font.
I also made the camera a little bit more zoomed out.
And lastly the game should work full screen now, because first when you entered full screen you also could see more of the level. But it doesn’t work on all devices.
In the video I uploaded you can see al the changes

0
loekman

I added a win popup with the text “You won!” an how many tiles you have touched in the level.
I made when you touch the flag the win popup appears and the text tiles touched witch you normally see in the top left corner disappears.

I also want to add a button to replay this level and a button for the level select.

Attachment
0
loekman

I added a background and I added a parallax to the background for a nice effect.
And I made the text bigger, and with an outline so you can always read it.

Attachment
0
loekman

The biggest improvement is that now every where you walk the game places snow so you have a visual indicator where you have placed all the snow.
now you can play with WASD and the up/“w” buttons also let you jump.
I made the text “tiles aangeraakt” –> “tiles touched”

Attachment
0
loekman

(I thought I had already uploaded a devlog but it didn’t upload so here it is again)

Devlog 1
I added all the sprites (from Kenny Games).
I made the player move and adjusted the variables to make it feel better to play.
Lastly I made that when you draw tiles it paints them automatically in correct order.

Devlog 2
I made a counter that counts how many tiles you touched(doesn’t count tiles double when you walk back).
And I made it that when you walk in a direction that the snowman also faces that direction.

Attachment
0
loekman

I added my first improvement “pronouncing numbers”.
And I published the site online

The first improvement is about that we in Dutch pronounce the numbers in wrong order. If you want to read the whole story go to the site.
I made it not super boring by adding colored tables and a clear block for the conclusion.

Attachment

I have began working on this site. This is the first site I am not vibe coding.
I added:

  • The tittle of the site
  • A description
  • About this project.

The tester didn’t realize they had to click ‘save’ to apply the settings, so I changed it to auto-apply. They also couldn’t see the snow because they had ‘snow behind content’ turned on, which causes the snow to be hidden on sites like GitHub. To fix this, I made the feature automatically disable on sites where it doesn’t work properly(that I found).

I made it so settings are now applied automatically. I also disabled the ‘snow behind content’ feature on certain sites (like GitHub.com) because the feature isn’t working on all sites.

I’ve added some final touches: the banner is now working on mobile, you can close the banner manually, and the graphics level now depends on your average FPS during the entire visit.

I hope you enjoy the countdown, and happy New Year!

loekman

I added a voting feature where you can vote for the 12 best events of the year. The votes are saved on Supabase. If you enter full screen, the banner disappears, so you can still use it as a countdown for friends and family! I also fixed a small bug where the time displayed didn’t match the time shown in the stats.

If you have suggestions for better events to vote on, please let me know!

Some final touches nothing big.

While making this extension I learned a lot about creating web extensions.

I still want to upload the extension to the chrome web store, but sadly that costs money.

I already made the extension before I installed Hackatime, so all that time isn’t tracked :(

I added a tracking system where you can see how long people have been watching to the site together ,how many fireworks did go off in that time and how much all that fire work costed if it were real firework. I made this using Supbase. I also improved the performance off the site by removing some glow and trails (sadly). Lastly I added mobile support, now you can watch the countdown on your phone. I made this by scaling the numbers to the size of the screen.

Attachment

I added a nice background with a moon and some stars(they are slowly moving up) sometimes you can see a falling star. The random firework in the background now has a launch animation. The explosion of the numbers is even cooler (I know I say that a lot) now they turn in the air (looks kinda 3D) and they don’t float out of your screen! I also added a Fav icon it is a multi color 2026 in pixel art (I uploaded a image bellow) and I created a ReadMe for some information on Github. I removed the box around the numbers because I think it looks better like this. And lastly I added a button to my main site to go to the countdown ( https://loek.oerlemans.tv/projects/index.html )
All these changes are already on Github and on my site so you can view them.
If you have any tips or feedback please let me know!

The app is completely finished (for now ;) )

The hardest part was to get the loading times acceptably because it takes really long to load the whole map full scale on a site. This is why I made the left part not one big map that loads but a small tile of the map that loads faster. But now everything loads pretty fast (not super) and the game fully works.

Hope you enjoy it!

loekman

I created a Fav icon for the site (you can see it bellow). It is a pin from a map on the Stardew Valley chicken. If you have any idea how to improve it (or completely redesign it) please let me know, because I think it isn’t perfect.
I also improved the ReadMe on Github with more explanation.
