Hi Everyone!
After more than 47 hours of working on my game, this is finally end.
I don’t really know how I could even express how happy and proud I am.
I love how the game looks now. IIf I could go back in time and decide to do it again or not, I am sure that I would do it every single time.
The whole journy was something that I will never forget.
Maybe sometimes I was annoyed by all the bugs and how my game looked before, but all the effort was worth it.
If anyone is currently doing some projects, remember one thing:
Don’t give up! ^^

Haha. Well, now I’ll probably get some rest after all this work and then I will start a new project.

  • added table upgrade logic + sprite,
  • added purple particles to trophy,
  • changed background of the title screen from screenshot to sprite,
  • added icon .svg .png for my game,

New Features:

  • UI version of the shop,

  • added autosave icon with label.

I am sick, so today I only made saving popup.
The icon has spinning animation, (autosave triggers every 30 seconds).

DEVLOG #28:
New Features:

  • added cat toys that you can interact with physically (balls of yarn),
  • added a cat bed (in my restaurant employees can take a break :3),
  • added cat bed SFX.

Notes:
Finally 40 hours of working on my game!
It was so difficult to understand how to use rigidbody2D TwT.
I think after some polishing my game will be ready to ship!

  • replaced old title scene background to new one,
    Notes:
    After around 40 hours of making my game, now I have no idea if I should add more content or ship it.
    I feel like everything that I was expected is done.
    Idk, maybe I will add some upgrades or something.

  • optimalized all the code,
    -exit doors SFX.

Notes:
I had changed code checking scripts from _process() to _input(), so now it should give some better performance, also now I preload all sprites, animations and sound effects.

  • fixed bug with loading scenes,

    My reaction after 2 hours of blindly searching for bug that makes my game not load to only realize Engine.time_scale was set to 0 in tutorial:

really like where the game went but i think that there is to much free space next to door and you should add Slot Machines that let player gamble :money:

Hmm, I don’t like the idea of gambling in my game, but do you have any other ideas what could I add to make my game more interesing?

DEVLOG #20:
New Features:

  • added music and sfx volumes to autosave,
  • added another keybind to interact (now for interaction you can use ‘E’ or ‘Z’),
  • milk now cost less, but I changed speed boost from 150 to 110 (default speed is 75).

Notes:
Today’s devlog is short because school takes most of my time, but overall I feel satisfied with the results ^^

  • settings in pause menu,
  • restart button (with script to overwrite save to default data),
  • music and sfx volume sliders,
  • fixed monologue after restart.

I am after making my game for whole 25 hours!
Tomorrow I will make more content to my game, maybe some new customers, or something. But I feel proud of my game and progress that I made in that time.

DEVLOG #18:
New Features:

  • buying tables to unlock more space for the customers,
  • fullscreen option,
  • background music (plays in main menu and game scene),
  • sound effects,
  • larger money label background,
  • autosaves for tables,
  • some signals to refresh data after loading data from save.

Notes:
Maybe it does not look, but I feel like this devlog makes an extremely big change to my game. I locked most of the tables near kitchen to make my game more difficult and make the player want
to buy tables that are nearer the kitchen counters. Now the player needs to pay to get tables, and the closer they are to the kitchen, the higher the price.
I learned how signals works ^^
Aaaaaaaaaand if someone follow my devlogs long enough they could remember that I was learning how to make music, but unfortunately I decided to use someone’s no-copyright premade music for my game.

DEVLOG #17:
New Features:

  • client animations + one new special customer ^^,
  • added shadows to counters for depth,
  • added global node to play sound effects with coded function,
  • implemented all sound effects that I had,
  • fixed autosave,
  • after seeing the tutorial for the first time in a save, it will not appear anymore.
    Notes:
    I really like how my customers look now, maybe I will add some delay between blinking animations for one type of customer.
    I feel like to finish my game I need like 10-20 hours more of creating, but I am so excited!!! ^^
    School takes most of my time, but I am optimistic about the future of my game.
    I think I will start searching for no copyright music for my game instead of creating my own. Still feel like music is too difficult for me.

    Notes:
    Autosave was a nightmare for me TwT. I had issues with saving files, and at first, I didn’t understand why autosave worked for the player’s position but not for money. After searching for the bug, I realized I had simply forgotten to refresh the money label after loaded data.

    Notes:
    After spending way too much time wondering why my rug still looked ugly, I finally feel like the visuals looks really well. I also tried makeing my own music for the game, but it’s still too difficult TwT

    Notes:
    I downloaded lmms to make some music for this project, but if I need to be honest, I don’t know if I am able to do that, I think it’s too difficult TwT

DEVLOG #10:
New Features:

  • player animations (walk in all directions and idle animation),
  • carpet for the tileset,
  • alert function (for exit doors),
  • got rid of godot warnings,
  • special customer pays more than regular, also regular customers pays based on how much money you have + random amount from 10 to 20.
    Notes:
    I want make music for my game (maybe some 8-bit type music), can anyone give me some tips, what free program use, or how to start?

New Features:

  • random customer sizes,
  • new secret customer (1/30 chance to appear[in the future he pays more for food{but first I need to improve the customer script}]),
  • improved item system,
  • added red arrow on current client order.
    Notes:
    While I was testing the game, I noticed that after some time I only serve to the new customer, where customers before him are waiting for their food. It turned out to be an food spawning issue. I have added a function that automatically rearranges products position when food is taken, and every new customer order ALWAYS goes to the last slot.

New Fatures:

  • main menu with spinning animation,

    Notes:
    After like 30 minutes of just staring at my code and thinking “why it is not working TwT” finally I can say I done most of annoying part of the game.
    There are 4 customers now, two with two color variants.

New features:

  • customers order system finally fully works!
  • player can give them food (only what they wanted) and get paid (10-13$)
  • ui (just for test, I will make it pretier later.
    Notes:
    To be honest, that was the most difficult part of this game for now.
    Still I don’t know when I want to ship my project.

Devlog #6:
New features:

  • now player has sprites for all directions,
  • ordering system is really close to be finished, now customers makes orders and food is spawned on countertop. Also every item is connected to table, so player can’t give deliver order to other clients and spawning script have pre-made places to spawn items.
    Notes:
    Maybe I forgot about somehting else to mention in this devlog, but I am really happy to see that my ordering system goes well.

  • beta order system for customers and make them random,
  • script to show (new random customer with random order) and hide customers,
  • sprites for food and order.
    Notes:
    It was really funny to experiment with making customers and beta order system. They look so cuteeee ^^
    Order system for now is only displaying ordered food (in the future I going to add more sprites) by customers (also in the future I want add more unique customers.

Hi ^^
I made a few new thing to my project. I changed movement script for player to move more smoothly
(ease in out), also I made new sprites for tailmap with colision, so player won’t go out from camera. For now I have player sprite when he goes down and up with script to handle this.
