A whole 16 hours of coding across 3 weeks without an update…

In my defence, I was working on transitioning everything to React, and so I barely would’ve had anything to show except for “hey, here’s the site, it looks the exact same as before but with less stuff,” but by the time I finished Flavourtown is already nearly finished.
Honestly it was fun to not just make my project, but also see other’s projects too. I got to see quite a few things I liked, and I even have someone else’s project ready to use for all of my future (and current) web projects.
With all that out of the way though, here’s the final state of the site. It did grow a bit since last ship, and while I’m still working on stuff like having context for newcomers, I suppose for now this’ll have to do.

You may have noticed I haven’t been devlogging as often, and that’s because I’ve been a bit busy with other stuff, but now I’m working on rewriting a lot of the site because I’m going to be using Next.js. I’m mostly doing it for another app I’m planning to add to the site, but I found that React could remove a lot of the tedious parts of working on the site and generally make the code a lot cleaner. For now though, there’s a lot that I’m doing to transition, in fact I’ve been working on a project for Remixed in order to figure out how Next.js works before I actually start using it for this site, but in the meantime I’ve been organizing all the files and folders in order to make the transition easier. For now though, I probably won’t be updating for a good bit.

Oh yeah, and I made the window headers bigger.

Tried to devlog 4 hours in, but it didn’t work for some reason… oh well, at least now I have more stuff to report on than when I devlogged before!

• Added a news app that’s being (planned to be) updated every Friday
• Added some more files while currently working on a PowerPoint presentation to try and give some context for people without the context of the site
• Changed the background a bit while I was working on making it more efficient and added a neat little overlay
• Tiny UX changes and behind the scenes stuff like making sure windows don’t open out of the screen

I’ve also finally showed this site to the people it was made for! I have no idea whether or not they noticed, and I am really paranoid about this but the website is still meant to be ARG-like in how I’m going about it so it would be hard to tell if people are actually noticing it. Either way, I’m probably going to be working on it a little less now, especially since I’ve got a few other websites I feel like making, so I guess in the meantime don’t expect much devlogs.

So I got the reviews, and the feedback was very important! My main priority now is to add stuff outside of more files, and try to maybe add context for new people because I’m now just realizing that I probably have a lot of explaining to do as to what anything on here means…

Anyways, I added a tiny time waster I made from Milkyway onto the site! The hours on the devlog are just from trying to get it to work properly on the site, none of the hours on Flavortown are from the game and all the game hours are going directly to Milkyway.

Finished nearly all the files, added a hover effect, added a chat button that links to a Discord server, and more! It’s almost done, in fact it’s in a state where I could very well ship it right now (maybe I will, depending on a few things)

Added a lot more files and folders, added a simple animation for opening a window or folder, added a screen for opening the site on mobile, added new icons, and more! Will commit soon with everything that’s been added.

Added a new background, proper window selection, a file system, and a few more stuff! Once I make better icons and organize the folders you can go through, I’ll make a commit on the site.

The hours would make you think I’ve added a lot more than I actually have, but that was mostly to get scrollbars working on the windows.

Making this now! I have no idea what to actually put but I do have a general idea on the style, since I already have a personal site I’m thinking of going for something different here.
