In the last devlog I thought four hours was a lot… what would future me think about nine hours?? (ARRGHHHHH!!!!)
The worst part is nothing visually changed again and flavortown wants me to show a picture of my progress????
I reworked the entire entity system though so now I can edit all my entity data in a json file and my game will make templates I can use to instantiate entities. The whole workflow should be a lot simpler. I think.
I don’t think I can ship this project by the end of flavortown. I don’t know why I thought I could. I was probably tempted by free stuff (which is amazing tyyy hackclub but I feel kinda greedy).
Even if I don’t get any cookies I like rambling about my project! And shoutout to that one guy who listened! ciklole! i love you wherever you are!

Four hours of work for nothing to visually change…
I’ve spent that time isolating the variables for “physics” and rendering so that it is easier to manipulate either independently, and added functions to work with both… that math got the better of me though…

I’ve been working on this game on and off for a few months now, but I’ve only just learned about Flavortown. Shame, I could have gotten a few tens of extra hours in…
Right now, we’ve got music, player movement, movable entities, npcs, dialogue, tile editing, z-layering, joystick compatibility, and data-driven gameplay! It may not be much but this is my first C++ project and I’m pretty proud of how much I’ve grown :)
Next time, I’ll add more enemy logic and maybe start on combat.
