I finally moved the -until now- locally hosted songs to a cloud database , specifically ‘supabase’, Also added “merry go round of life” to the library.

Though I have to admit I did use AI in this part of the project , all of which has been recorded in the AI declaration at the top

First of all , apologies for creating my first devlog so late, I completely forgot about it.

Anyways, in my 2 hours and 21 minutes of work I managed to make

  1. A home screen with 5 songs- The john cena theme , Softcore by the neighbourhood , BIRDS OF A FEATHER- by billie eillish , Die with a smile buy lady gaga and Bruno Mars , and finally Golden Hour by JVKE
  2. Basic Song controls , including an interactive duration bar
  3. A really cool interactive sidebar
  4. A “colorful “ theme
  5. A library page , with all the added songs
  6. A liked page with all the songs you liked
    TO DO -
Make it so that the song continues to play as you browse through the website , as if you leave the home page right now , the song stops playing
Make a login page, even if there is no backend , just so that the project feels more complete
Make a signup page to accompany for the same reason as above
    Maybe change the color scheme
    Add a search bar
    Add a Volume bar
Add a “Next up “ queue logic
    Add a playlists page
Add hover states to all UI
    Add a Dark/Light Mode feature
And ofc work on adding more songs

I built a star wars, web based combat platformer game with 3 levels in an hour or so. I’d really appreciate any feedback I can get on -

  1. Features I can add to enrich player experience
  2. Movement - does it feel smooth? or not?
  3. UI. Is there anything I can do to level it up?
  4. Art for a game without any assets and only code based art. What are your thoughts?
  5. Literally anything you feel is underdeveloped

I revamped menu , added more characters , though i subconciusly ended up doing most of my work on github by mistake , so not much time got counted , but that’s fine. I think I’m going to ship it.
Oh did I mention, I learnt quite a lot about “box art” , basically art on java made by ctx, i managed to make some decent looking figures for all the characters. I also added a level manager, and revamped the controls - the new ones are as follows -
WASD/Arrow Keys for movement
Space/J for main attack
F for force push/deflect (only for Jedi)

Added PLO-KOON to the game , added deflection and force push, added darth maul to the game
1st picture - new selection menu
2nd picture - Maul vs Kenobi

I setup a menu that looks epic , using css animations , something i recently found out about .
Additionally , I added a small 1st level with basic enemies , basic animations and simple attacks (blasters for enemies, lightsabers for the jedi as well as a force push and deflectbutton which are all very simple and unpolished as of now)

I built a functioning, though highly watered down , version of Poke’mon on Slack. That too it uses hackatime api to force you to have at least 1 code minute(s) to catch a poke’mon , additionally pokemon encounters can be influenced by your primary coding language , which i think is very cool. It might take you some time to test , but I hope that you give all the features a try !!

Added a bunch of more commands , though i find it annoying that wakatime can only track the time i spend typing on vscode but not the time i spend on the project overall , even though that is pretty unrealistic and im not sure if spending a bunch of time debugging , going through stack overflow and watching youtube tutorial counts. Even though i added around 700 lines of code (not very impressive once you realize that the vscode copilot auto complete is so good that it realizes what you mean just by the function/variable name), i still only logged 26 minutes of work , i think its ready to publish but i just need to polish a bit more , so maybe the next time i log I will ship the project.

EDIT: So there’s an error with my WakaTime now , so i can’t post another log so ig I have to directly ship it now , because my deadline is on 31st march and my school starts tommorow (30th match ) so today’s the last day i can work on it and i dont have time to troublehsoot wakatime

Finished most of the stuff , and I apologize for not logging before , i spent nearly 4 hours just on the slack website , so its unfortunate that didn’t get logged . I added a catch function that allows you to catch a pokemon , but it costs you minutes from your hackatime total (dont worry it doesnt affect your actual minutes). On top of that i added a bunch of obvious ones - such as pokedex , poketeam , pokestats , which all do exactly what they suggest and finally I linked it to hackaTIME , the most TIMEconsuming process…. of all TIME (your cue to laugh)

I built a MOBA . :D ON HTML >:D. I was expecting multiplayer to be the hardest part , but the hardest part turned out to be making the ui look even remotely good , HINT: I spent a LOT of hours on css youtube tutorials , in an attempt to make it look good , even resorting to using emoji’s rather than assets or sprites , im not really proud of it but it did teach me a lot of things about responsive design , and UI layout. Multiplayer is something im VERY proud of , i did NOT know it would be just as easy as state synchronization on firebase but now im very HAPYY I could get this over with despite my computer being wiped in between 😁😁😁😁😁😁🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉. Another thing im happy about is the look of the final UI polish .

sidsassy28

Kind of cheated by using an online tutorial to set up firebase to make it online , but its lowk fine , the end result was so clean , i even got a chat running , much easier than i thought it would be , cleaned up the front menu , though i didn’t get enough time to make art , so i just put some placeholder emojis i found online

  1. Made the UI look much much much much much …. much better;
  2. Changed the pitch to make it look more realistic ;
  3. swapped the boring squares with circles , with placeholder emojis in the middle ; thats all

I made a some basic code to allow you to select a character but spent an unnecessary amount of trial and error just trying to move info from on html file to another before dicovering that you can reference other script’s function’s within a javascript file
