Shipped this project!

Built firewalld iptables Web UI!

What has been made?

A way of creating/deleting/viewing iptables rules in a simple UI, accessible via the web!

Biggest challenges?

  • seeing what commands are for what commands
  • rewriting the project from firewalld to iptables (I had a bad experience with it, so I had to switch the project idea entirely)

What am I proud of?

  • this project as a whole
  • now being able to see what rules Pterodactyl creates behind my back
  • finally not having to mess with the command line (i love it, but iptables is too hard for me)

Update 5

… oops, whats a devlog …?

Last devlog before shipping, as I have too many projects to maintain, so that’s why I speedran it in a single day.

Changes

  • Finish the project
  • Remake it from firewalld to iptables
  • Show rules
  • Rule deletion
  • Creating rules (it was borked?)

Update 4

God damn I was on a break for too long.
I primarily have cleaned up code, made it less repeating.

Later on, I want to make it so when you submit bulk IPs, they get queued up and shown in the modal system, on how much they’ve been applied. The same thing for single port / ips.

While testing - figured out the website decides to ask me for my password to block an IP.

Currently trying to figure out how to manage the UI for adding specific rules.

I feel too tired to continue, might look into making that entire page work the same, how I have my tabs for services, rich rules & etc.

Project was worked on before I remembered I can submit for Flavortown
Current progress:

  • Simple login system, where there isn’t a single form. Supports autofill w/ Bitwarden
  • Dashboard, with data obtained from firewalld (video shows none, as I removed all of the rules on my PC)
  • Somewhat simple UI (that breaks all UI/UX rules, I think…)
