We are working on a harvesting drone designed to pick fruits like mangoes, coconuts, and jackfruit without damaging tree branches. The drone uses a LiDAR sensor to map the tree structure and locate fruits accurately. Based on this mapping, the system estimates the fruit position and plans a safe picking path.
A servo-mounted harvesting mechanism extends from the drone to gently pluck the fruit without direct contact with branches. Our research phase is complete, and the hardware development is around 50% finished. The drone is currently capable of stable flight.
The harvesting mechanism integration and autonomous picking logic are under development and will be implemented in the next phase.
