I built Arcade Guess Arena, a retro-style number guessing game with levels, timer, hints, scoring, and a neon arcade look.

The hardest part was making it feel like an actual game instead of just entering numbers. I kept improving the UI, fixing small issues, and adjusting the gameplay until it started to feel smooth and fun.

I’m really happy with how it turned out — it now feels complete and something people can actually enjoy playing 🎮

Devlog #9 – Arcade Guess Arena 🎮 (Final)
done 🚀
game is complete and ready to play
added final polish — sounds, bug fixes, smoother gameplay, leaderboard

🎥 video flow:
start → enter name → choose level → guess with timer → hints → score → win/lose → replay

happy with how it turned out
thanks for following 🙌

Devlog #8 – Arcade Guess Arena 🚀

this is probably the last devlog before shipping

the game is almost done now — just polishing and final checks left

before release, i’ll be:
fixing any remaining bugs
adding proper sound effects
improving leaderboard system
making sure everything runs smoothly

overall really happy with how it turned out
from a simple idea to something that actually feels like a game

see you soon with the final version 👀

Devlog #7 – Arcade Guess Arena

worked on polishing the game today

cleaned up the UI and improved layout — looks more balanced now
stats section and gameplay feel clearer and smoother

everything feels more consistent while playing

around 75% done now, just finishing touches left

next: sounds, small animations, and mobile support

happy with the progress 👍

Devlog #6 – Arcade Guess Arena

worked on the game more today and it’s finally starting to feel like a proper game

spent most of the time cleaning up the UI — things look less messy now and a bit more like an arcade screen

tweaked the input and guess flow so it feels smoother
timer bar looks better now and is easier to notice while playing

fixed some annoying issues too
reset wasn’t fully clearing things before, now it works properly
enter key + guess button both feel consistent now

also added better feedback messages so it’s clearer if you’re getting closer or completely off

honestly feels way better than yesterday
not perfect yet but definitely more fun to play

next things i want to try:
add some sounds because it feels kinda silent right now
maybe small animations so it doesn’t feel too static
and make sure it works nicely on mobile

overall happy with today’s progress 👍

Devlog #5 – Guess the Number 🎯

worked on the game a bit more today and it’s finally starting to feel like an actual game instead of just typing numbers into a box lol

added a timer so you can’t just sit there forever thinking
also put in 3 difficulty levels which makes it way more interesting
there’s a chances counter now so you know when you’re about to lose 😅

added a basic points system + high score tracking
and it shows your previous guess now (this helps way more than i expected)

also added a hint button for when you’re completely stuck
and a reset button so you don’t have to reload every time 🙏

cleaned up the UI a bit too, looks less messy now
you can press enter to guess which feels a lot better
and added better feedback messages like “MISS”

next i wanna add:
sounds (it feels kinda dead without them)
maybe some animations so it’s less static
and make it work properly on mobile

overall i’m pretty happy with it so far 👍
still simple but way more fun than it was before

Devlog #4 – Guess the Number 🎯

worked a bit more on the game today and it’s starting to actually feel like a real game now instead of just a basic number guesser 😅

stuff i added:

  • added a timer ⏱️ so you can’t just sit there forever thinking
  • put in 3 difficulty levels (easy → hard)
  • chances counter so you know how close you are to losing
  • basic points system + high score tracking
  • shows your previous guess (this actually helps a lot lol)
  • hint button for when you’re completely stuck
  • reset button so you don’t have to reload every time

small improvements:

  • cleaned up the UI a bit so it’s less messy
  • you can press enter to guess now (feels way better)
  • added better feedback messages like “MISS”

next up:

  • sounds (this needs it badly 🔊)
  • maybe some animations to make it less static
  • make it work properly on mobile

overall pretty happy with how it’s coming along 👍 still feels simple but way more fun than before

Devlog #3

Started working on a small game and spent some time today building the level select + timer UI.

Right now it’s pretty simple:

  • You can see 3 level slots (only Level 1 works for now)
  • There’s a timer bar at the top that’ll count down from 60
  • Basic layout is in place so I can build on it later

I tried to give it a bit of a retro/arcade feel with the colors and scanlines. Still tweaking that part, but I like where it’s going so far.

Next up I’m planning to:

  • Actually hook the timer up to game logic
  • Add level unlocking
  • Smooth out the timer animation
  • Maybe throw in some sound effects

Still early, but it’s starting to feel like something 👍
Would love any feedback or ideas

From my childhood, i like arcade retro style very much so i decided to make the game in that way like we played in GOLDEN DAYS.
This is the title screen for my “Guess the Number” game. I went for a retro pixel style with bright neon colors to give it a cool arcade vibe and make the game feel more fun and polished.
