BlockIt-India is smart safety application designed to protect individuals - especially young people, seniors, and vulnerable community members - from fraudulent calls, messages, and social engineering attacks by combining advanced analysis, simple design, and real-time insights.
In India and around the world, scams and fraudulent communications are increasing rapidly, from fake banking alerts and delivery scams to impersonation attempts. While existing caller-ID apps only identity who is calling, they often fail to detect the intent behind the communication - especially when the scam comes through voice messages, recordings, or cleverly crafted text.

BlockIt-India moves beyond static spam lists by using intelligent analysis to evaluate the behavior, tone, and the patterns of communication, and empower users with real time scam detection, educational tools, and community-driven insights.

This project uses AI

used Chatgpt for debugging and copilot to get the correct tag for the specific task.

Status: Early Prototype
Goal: Build a practical, India-focused app while learning real world app development.
What I have learned so far:

  1. Setup the project structure using Expo(React Native).
    2.Created the basic navigation flow between screens.
    3.Designed and Implemented: Index screen, signup & login.
  2. Added input handling and logic without using any backend to check for empty fields and Password and confirm password matching alerts.
    5.Intergrated basic user feedback using alerts
    6.Added branding assests(logo).
    7.Focused on functionality over perfection for this phase.
    What I learned :
    1.How to manage state using useState.
    2.Handling form inputs and basic validation logic.
    3.Structuring screens and components cleanly.
    4.Debbugging react native issues instead of avoiding them.
    Note: This product is still in development and focuses on spam detection for India only. And this doesn’t have any readme for this because it’s under development. This is for learning purpose only. This project is built with a focus on responsible development, user privacy and transparency. No user data is misused or shared, and features are designed to avoid harm or manipulation. The goal is to build technology that is helpful and respectful to users.
