This is a website for Sunshine. It’s a proposed YSWS program, based on locally organized, summer coding clubs. You get into a team, meet-up weekly in your club, and solve weekly challenges!

I made a website for Sunshine, a proposed network of Summer coding clubs!

This week was the craziest hackathon I’ve been to. I locked in on making this website before the deadline for the internship applications real bad. It was a wild ride, through way over the 12 hours that I shipped. But I think it was worth it. I don’t know if Deven realized it, but he may have launched the most WG lucrative YSWS.

I wrote the README, made the arrow bounce, and added a footer. I’m heading off to sleep, but I think it’s a pretty chill website.

Alright… Lot of time has passed. I:

  • hate hate hate CSS.
  • spent an hour bugfixing a build error. apparently it was because one (1) file was empty.
  • added a nice and dandy FAQ section!
  • deployed to Vercel
  • compressed images ~112 times down. now the loading doesn’t take 30s.

I made the font different, added the downward arrow. Changed the RSVP position, the sun now spins. The program is now called Sunshine. A lot of time was spent in Figma, but I haven’t logged it!

I have changed the concept for the webpage. I want to make it more happy, and Daydream like. I made a new mockup in Figma, and slowly started implementing it.

My main goals:

  • happy website
  • explains what Sunshine is clearly

A few days ago Dev rolled out the internship application, where you can apply with a YSWS idea. Zach founded Hack Club because he didn’t have anyone to code with, yet now most YSWS programs focus on coding alone, and then coming together. What if we changed that? FriendShip is a program of summer mini-coding-clubs! Where anyone can host a small gathering in a public space, get money for food and prizes in the shop!

This is a website for the program in Svelte. I started making it about 4 hours ago. I’ve never done anything with Svelte before, so I think it’s quite cool. My hardest task so far was centering a div… I want to add an input field where you put your email on the main site, and an explanation of what the program is, below the main photo. As you can see, it is a work in progress.
