OrbitTrivia is a space-themed trivia app originally built with Python and Tkinter. Players can explore all 8 planets with fun facts, take quizzes across 3 difficulty levels with countdown timers, and compete on a leaderboard with medals. Features 36 quiz questions, player name tracking, hover effects, and a clean space-themed UI.

I built OrbitTrivia, a space themed trivia app using Python and Tkinter where players can explore all 8 planets, learn fun facts, and take quizzes across 3 difficulty levels with countdown timers. It features 36 questions, a leaderboard with medals, hover effects and a dark space themed UI. The most challenging parts were building the timer system that changes colors and auto-skips, and learning to save leaderboard scores using JSON - both completely new to me as a beginner. I’m most proud of going from knowing almost nothing about Python to shipping a fully polished app with multiple features in 5 hours 24min. This is my first project in Flavorthon and it feels amazing to ship it!

Final polish before shipping! Added hover effects on all buttons.. they glow when you hover. Player name now shows in the quiz top bar. Added a Clear Leaderboard button and a new About screen showing project stats. Solar System Facts now calculate planet/moon counts dynamically. Added 6 more quiz questions. Improved window size and button spacing for a cleaner look. Updated README with all devlogs. Final testing complete - everything works! Ready to ship!

Big feature update! Added a full leaderboard system… scores save to a JSON file and top 10 are displayed with medals 🥇🥈🥉. Players now enter their name before starting a quiz, and it appears on the results screen. Added a “Score saved!” confirmation after each quiz. Created a new Solar System Facts page with 10 cool space facts. Main menu now has 5 buttons: Explore Planets, Start Quiz, Leaderboard, Solar Facts, and How to Play. Screenshot attached…

Updated all 8 planets with extra details.. each planet now shows day length and year length alongside distance, size, and moons. The planet info screen now displays 5 detailed stats in a clean info box. Also expanded the quiz question bank from 20 to 30 questions across all 3 difficulty levels (Easy/Medium/Hard), covering topics like moons, telescopes, and Europa’s hidden ocean. Big update! Added 3 difficulty levels (Easy/Medium/Hard) with countdown timers (15s/10s/7s). Timer changes color from green to orange to red as time runs out. If time runs out, the question auto skips. Planet explorer now shows detailed info like distance from Sun, size, moons, and a fun fact for each planet. Added a How to Play screen and expanded quiz to 20 questions across 3 difficulty levels. Results now show score percentage with better feedback.

I built the first version of OrbitTrivia, a space-themed Python GUI app using Tkinter. Users can click on planets to see interesting facts about them. I also started improving the UI to give it a space theme.
