Automatic PS5 Disc Loader

I added a way to mount the servo, as long as a way to route the wires for it out of there. I also made the “base” thicker to keep the wheel from dragging. This should mark the last major change to the vertical motion, or at least the concept, because I probably messed up something obvious. But in theory, this should allow the servo to raise the scissor, raising the platform with the disc. Now I’m going to work on the concept for the horizontal motion, before putting it all together and then printing it :)

It has been a while since my last devlog, but when I first printed the scissors, the servo would stall. So I’ve spend a long time looking up different mechanisms, and I believe this might work :) Hopefully the servo wont stall when i print this out. This mechanism uses what I believe is a servo crank and slider mechanism

I worked on designing the scissor mechanism. The connection part of the print failed, but I realized it wouldn’t have worked anyways. So for now its just a scissor :). Tomorrow, Im going to connect it, and hopefully connect it to the servo.

I figured out how to hook up 2 motors, by hooking them both the VBUS port.

I spent way too long trying to get the servo to work with the pico. Turns out, only main.py gets read automatically. Who knew. Anyways, now the sevo works to turn 180 and back.

Im switching the design to directly use the servo horn to push it up and down, and Im going to re implement the rack and pinion system for horizontal movement. This is after I went back and forth between a pulley system, but I don’t think it was stable enough. Im recieving the breadboard today, so I’ll probably mess with that a bit more.

The servos arrived! But amazon didn’t ship the breadboard, so instead I worked on seperating the html file from the main.py file. This way, I don’t have to worry about messing up the main.py, and i’ll keep my scripts more clear

I designed the tray, and a rack and pinion system to move the tray. The motors I ordered got stolen by the amazon guy, so I’ll have to wait until wednesday to get them. The tray will be able to move back and forth, and im working on how to motorize moving up and down.

I can now control the Pico’s onboard LED by using the IP address in a browser. There is an on/off switch, and now my next goal is to control

I worked on the holder for the disc trays. These will stack, as I also removed the stacking mechanism on the tray itself. These should be modular, to allow as many games as you want to be swappable

Today I created a disk tray in onshape. This will, hopefully, hold the discs, both while they are moving, and while they are stationary. These will have magnets in the bottom that allow them to stack on top of more of them.

I learned how to set up my Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W so that I can code it, and I got it to blink on and off.
