Shipped this project!

Shipping an updated version of my standalone PDF viewer, inspired by the Microsoft Edge PDF experience.

The idea is simple. Edge has one of the best PDF viewers out there, but it is locked inside a browser. So I wanted to bring that experience into a clean standalone tool.

Last time I shipped this, the response was honestly kind of crazy. People really liked it and I ended up with 25.6 cookie multiplier, which I did not expect at all.

This version is better though. I fixed the things people pointed out:

  • Highlight and draw tools were swapped, fixed that
  • Print button was not working, fixed
  • Annotations disappearing while zooming, fixed

So it should feel much more solid now.

Also being real here. The hackathon ends on 31st and I have exams coming up, so I cannot keep pushing updates at full speed anymore.

If you try it and genuinely like it, I would really appreciate your support.

And if you are voting, please consider rating it higher across the categories like originality, usefulness, storytelling etc. That multiplier really matters here.

I am aiming for around 250 cookies so I can grab a 3D printer before it goes out of stock.

Only if you think it deserves it. No pressure.

Thanks a lot for checking it out :)

i think i should put the RAG feature behind a little and fix the problems the voters of this projects mentioned. i think that should have first priority. also there is only 15 days remaining to the hackathon and i dont think i can ship the RAG feature until then. i am definitely got add it soon. i think you all should star the repository and bookmark the website. i am gonna turn this into a full fledged startup

The best PDF reader might actually be hiding inside a web browser.

Microsoft Edge’s built-in PDF viewer is widely considered one of the smoothest and most polished PDF experiences often better than dedicated apps like Adobe Reader.

But it’s locked inside the browser.

While scrolling X, I came across a tweet that said:
“Edge sucks, but its PDF viewer is amazing. Someone should make it standalone.”

That tweet became the idea.

So for this hackathon, I built a standalone PDF viewer inspired by the Edge PDF experience focused on speed, simplicity, and a distraction-free reading experience.

Sometimes the best products come from noticing something great that already exists and making it more accessible.

I saw a tweet where someone said they love the built-in PDF viewer in Microsoft Edge, but hate the browser itself because it sucks and wished there were a standalone PDF viewer with the same features.

So I built one.
