Now, SkiSafe includes the following: SkiSafe is a wearable or gear-mounted safety prototype designed to prevent on-mountain collisions. It uses a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)—specifically the FOMO (MobileNetV2 0.35) architecture—to “see” and identify other skiers or snowboarders in real-time. When a human is detected within the camera’s field of view, the system triggers an alert to warn the user.
SkiSafe aims to improve safety and comfort for skiers who use cochlear implants. The project focuses on designing a helmet that protects cochlear implants from impact while integrating sensors to detect objects or people approaching from behind, providing visual or haptic feedback to the skier. This system enhances spatial awareness and prevents potential accidents on the slopes.
